The Town of 1770 is a famous village in Queensland, Australia. It is officially known as “Seventeen Seventy.” On three sides, it is surrounded by the Coral Sea and Bustard Bay. “Agnes Waters” the home of Scooteroo, a famous destination for backpackers, is located 8 kilometres to the south of Seventeen Seventy.

History of 1770
Captain James Cook was a famous British explorer and captain in the Royal Navy. On April 19, 1770, he reached the south eastern coast of Australia and became the first recorded European to make it to the eastern coastline. In May 1770, he made his second landing to the eastern coastline. The Town of 1770 marks this famous landing of Captain James Cook in the state of Queensland. Every year, people of the Town of 1770 celebrate this occasion in the month of May through the re-enactment of this historic landing.
